Adjudicator for Choral Workshop Day for Developing Choirs - Elementary

Sarona Mynhardt was born and raised in South Africa. She completed her teaching degree at the Teacher’s Training College in Pretoria in 1985. Her formal voice training culminated in postgraduate work at the Conservatory of Music at North-West University in Potchefstroom.

Her early singing career included membership in professional children’s and youth choirs, and later extended to include roles in Musicals, Operettas, and solo recitals.

Following ten successful years of teaching Music and conducting Choirs at Elementary and High School levels, as well as directing Musicals and plays, Sarona immigrated to Canada with her husband and two children. In 1997 she founded the White Rock Children’s Choir, which currently has over a 100 members in Choirs at four levels under her artistic direction. The Choir has performed at various concerts and international festivals as far as California, Italy, Hawaii, Mexico and South Africa. She taught in the Surrey School District for four years where she conducted award winning School Choirs and directed several Musicals.

Sarona has been invited as a clinician and an adjudicator for several Choir Festivals, a presenter for reading sessions, and is a popular addition to conducting choral and teacher’s workshops. She has also conducted several honour choirs in the Lower Mainland. She has served on the faculty for the BC Choral Federation’s Conductors course for the past three years.

Sarona currently conducts three of the Choirs in the White Rock Children’s Choir family and is the Choral Director at White Rock Christian Academy where she conducts four School Choirs at the Middle and High School levels.
