Mr. Proznick retired from teaching music in the public school system in Saskatchewan and British Columbia in June 2003. His post secondary education was with the Royal Canadian Navy Tri-Service School of Music, University of Saskatchewan and the University of British Columbia. Mr. Proznick enjoyed a very successful teaching career spanning 37 years. During these years, he has been recognized locally, provincially, nationally and internationally as a “master teacher of music” consistently producing quality musical groups and individuals most notably during his last 29 years of teaching in Surrey, BC where he taught instrumental and vocal jazz.
Mr. Proznick was the first inductee into the Envision Jazz Festival’s “Hall of Fame” in the educator category to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the festival in the year 2000. In 2003 he received the Kieth Mann Award” as outstanding music educator of the year from Musicfest Canada. In 2010, Mr. Proznick was awarded the 'Surrey Treasure Award' for leadership and service in the arts in Surrey for the past 38 years. Furthermore, Mr. Proznick has twice received the "Outstanding High School Jazz Musician" award from international jazz magazine “DOWNBEAT”.
